What is the Difference Between a Smartphone and a Tablet?

Smartphones and tablets are two different kinds of mobile devices. You might be deciding which one is right for you. In this article, you will learn about what each of these is and how they are different from each other.

What is a Smartphone?

A smartphone is a mobile phone that lets you talk, text, and connect to the internet. You can download all kinds of apps, take pictures, listen to music, and more. Think of a smartphone as a cell phone plus a computer that fits in your pocket.

What is a Tablet?

A tablet is a mobile device with a touchscreen. It’s bigger than a smartphone but smaller than a laptop. Tablets can do many of the same things as a smartphone. This includes using the internet, taking pictures, downloading and using apps, and more.

What are the Differences Between a Smartphone and a Tablet?

Even though they have similarities, smartphones and tablets are different in many ways. Learn more about these differences below.

Smartphones:

    • Have a telephone number associated with it.
    • Have the ability to place calls using built-in features, like a non-smart phone.
    • Are usually small enough to fit in a pocket.
    • Access the internet through wi-fi or a data plan with a phone company.

Tablets:

    • Do not have built-in features to make phone calls. Tablets can call other smart devices using apps like WhatsApp that use data to make calls.
    • Have large touch screens that are closer in size to a laptop than a smartphone.
    • Access the internet through wi-fi.
    • can sometimes have data plans to access the internet.

There are other important points in addition to these major differences. Tablets can have a longer battery life than a smartphone. Tablets tend to be better for people who want to watch movies, read, or play games since the screen is bigger. Smartphones are much more portable, durable, and have a better camera. Which one is better for you depends on what you want to use it for.
